Carol Ladewig
The primary focus of my work is the play of rhythm and of color. The vertical lines in my paintings create a rhythmic narrative space of forms and ideas through their thinness or thickness, opacity or transparency, color and value.


Carol Ladewig lives and works in Oakland, California. Ms. Ladewig received a BA from the University of California, Berkeley and her MFA from the California College of Arts and Crafts (now CCA) where she received a 1991 CCAC MFA, Barclay Simpson Award. Ladewig’s work is held in the both public and private collections across the United States and Europe.

In 2001, she co-founded the Oakland Art Gallery and was the Program Director/Executive Director thru 2007. Ms. Ladewig has been an instructor in the Art Department at Diablo Valley College, since 2001. Since 2009, she has been a board member of the Kala Art Institute and has served as Chair of the UC Art Alumni Group Symposium committee.
